Given the political tie up between the US evangelical movement and the extreme elements of the Israeli political scene that really doesn’t surprise me. That tie up from the evangelical POV is based on their beliefs around Armageddon and from the Israeli POV, the far right get direct access to Trump. Ironically the one group of people who wont be saved in said Armageddon are Jewish people waiting for the Messiah and rejecting Christ, but don’t let that get in the way of a marriage of convenience eh.
When even The Guardian admits that what’s underway in Israel is ethnic-cleansing for the sake of a land-grab, then - well… . . . …fuck-all really, since no-one seems to give a shit or are more scared of being called ‘antisemitic’ than they are of the deaths of tens-of-thousands of civilians, western-sanctioned war-crimes, and a global injustice that’s permanently destabilised a region with the potential to kick-start a third world war…
Various Israeli ministers have been saying for well over a year that the plan all along is to clear Gaza and give it back to Israelis. One even commented it was unfair that Palestinians had access to prime beachfront real estate.
Absolutely fuck all will be done/said until well after all Arabs are murdered and removed from Gaza.
The yanks tell Israel to send in aid or else.
Israel tells the US to go fuck itself.
The US responds with…
Looks like Assad is fucked. Wonder which country will take him and his millions. Answers on the back of a post card.
The lot doing the damage arm to be behaving at the moment, however not holding my breath on that front.
Russia, Iran, Turkey and a handful of Arab states are a tad pissed off. I suspect Israel would have been encouraging this particular rebellion, chaos amongst their less than freindly neighbours would be no bad thing for them.
Wouldn’t suprise me. Israel has been bombing Iranian and Hezbollah targets, removing their capacity to support Assad. They haven’t attacked Russian targets and it will be interesting to see if the new regime boots Russia out of their Mediteranian port.
Putin won’t be happy this morning that’s for sure.
Looking at how loyalist support absolutely collapsed, rather than looking for an upswing in external support for the rebels, we might be better served looking at the downswing in support for the incumbents from other state players. The Assad government was propped up and the props were taken away. This is not to say that there’s no Western involvement (although you’re better off looking at Turkey based on some of the hardware cropping up in pics and vids) but the situation seems to have shifted from a lack of support to one side rather than an increase in support to the other.
