yup, I would go along with that.
Yeah those fridges don’t come up for sale very often
5 x 9mts - I listen across the width in one half of the room (there is a wood burner in the middle) so the effective listening area is c. 5 x 6mts -ish with the additional space to one side. The Blumenhofers are pretty sweet tbh but being a bit bass light, they deffo need the sub and to be cranked up a bit to fully fill the space. The room works well acoustically for whatever reason and there are no neighbours so part (a lot) of my thinking is I can have something more substantial, especially given that the room works ok.
Out of pure nosiness I’m certain that most of the forum would like to see a photo of this space.
It sounds amazing.
Great shout,
JBL K2 or Everest,
Well under budget if you can find them
Good shout those Pete, saw them a few weeks ago…
It’s a nice size, although 5metres doesn’t get you far enough away from a regular horn loaded midbass for much kick bass.
You need 14ft from the mouths at least for that.
I had that problem. This is with pure horn loaded midbass.
The bass is there and it’s clean but it doesn’t ever grab you.
The Danley solution of part horn, part reflex loaded midbass (down to 50Hz) completely gets around that.
All in one compact unit.
You get the other benefits of single point source and phase coherency too.
They image really well with a synergy that separate multiple horns or speakers with drivers greater than 1/4 wavelength apart can’t. Esp sitting that close to them,
Below 100Hz you can’t hear that effect so separate subs work just fine - esp coming in as low as 50Hz!
You want impressive room filling / shaking bass or it’s rather disappointing IMO.
Horn speakers really need horn loaded subs to keep up speed / impact wise.
A pair of horn channels really need two subs to keep up nicely in a room volume that big.
You got plenty of real estate for them:)
Best thing is to get around and listen to lots…
Nice Gregg but the price is per speaker…
Thanks Steve good advice and yes I need more not less bass, I’ll narrow it down
Ah!! Missed that.
One for the list maybe…
K2 s9800 are better than the newer ones according to lots of reading I did before getting mine
Would work well with your vitus
Never heard of those. Very nice.
nice enough that I wouldnt care (much) what they sound like
this is the chap thomas mayer used to collab with before he moved on to the new von larga fella - was temped by his Rho speakers as well as love the simplicity of the design
yes lovely looking things those
