Yeah, a bit more I think, without turning it into a Naim / B&W combo or similar.

It’s not a pretty thing but I have to say, I loved that when I tested it years ago. If it had a volume knob, it would be perfect.
I do hope you’re not referring to Vanessa
In my system with Harbeths, i found the gato a little more forward and upfront than I liked, but the OP here seemed to be after a bit more leading edge bite.
In the end, the Gato, and Hegel were replaced with a Luxman L590X which is comfortably better than either and IMHO tonally perfect.
The Ec monos are the best power amps I’ve ever used, bar none. They’d be better still if they didn’t need re-capping… Were I in OP’s situation (and setting all other considerations aside), I’d be scanning the calcifieds for something like an ECI6.
Agree with comments re. Gato DIA amps - lovely, and hugely competent, but err towards warmth and smoothness, and far, far away from the dated notion of how switchmode amps sound.
I’m awaiting for a reply from Emporium about how much they’ll do trade in for the Bel Cantos against a Unison Research Secundo + Electrocompaniet ECD2. If insufficient and I have to sell the BCs myself, Elite have an ECI6DX all in one for a very good price right now.
Elite will do trades, they also haggle, AND they are much easier to deal with than Emporium.
Oh, they say on the website no trades except on brand new items.
News to me, business must be very slow, they were actively soliciting trades when I bought the AudioValve. Can’t hurt to ask.
Have popped them a message to see.
Wow. That is surprising. Trades were par for the course with them.
Still perplexed that you have shitbox speakers, want more dynamics and nobody has suggested horns. Have you considered nuking the forum?
Ordered, should be here tomorrow.
It’s in, and so far, so very, very good.
Makes more sense than a load of random boxes, too.
Surely that goes against all the hifi rules. All boxes must look as illmatched as possible. Not sure about the cruciform control buttons, would prefer a knob. I may of course be a pervy vampire.
