This is pretty good, some pre-amble for 15 minutes about the festival and then the whole Hendrx set there. July 1970, 2 months before he died. I hadn’t seen it before.
I’ll give that a watch. Thanks for the heads up.
I did search out a few live performances yesterday after I realised it was 55 years since he died. Even though I was only 12 it was both a shock and very sad.
It’s interesting the context they put that event into. It was probably the last of those giant US festivals & attitude towards hippies, drug use & general licentiousness were changing for various reasons including the effect of the Manson family killings in LA which were being tried at the end of 1970.
Bit of Sleaford Mods:
Probably in the top 5 best saddest / funniest / engaging music docs I’ve seen.
Just realised I watched that a couple of years ago.
Excellent.
A brief breakdown of tainted loves history.
Was telling an American on fb that by uk law, this has to be played at every wedding reception. Not sure if he believed me or not.
Along with ‘Come On Eileen’
Superb three part documentary all on youtube thankfully.
Those Britannia music docs were great.
I remember Folk Britannia being excellent.
Thanks for the recommendation
Started watching the jazz ones last night
Halfway through the 2nd episode.
Not a big jazz fan,but the history is fascinating.
Wish the BBC did more music docs.
If anyone knows any more in the Britannia series, can they put them up please
The music is almost secondary in these documentaries - it’s the stories and characters that are the fascinating thing.
Some recorded concerts (beware - JAZZ!!) available to view free this month.
The passion here is great
