Log burners

System to go in that room at the back then, with massive horns :+1:

I like them but heard this on Radio 4.
Not good if you have breathing issues.
In short use the best logs, load up and then once lit only open the door when absolutely necessary.

Aren’t they one of the biggest sources of air born pollution? Given that I wouldn’t feel comfortable having one.

Think it’s been kicked into touch for the time being, she’s happy to spunk £1500 on a mostly unused cast iron box, but not the same again on a stainless flue?

Anyway the FoLs have have engaged Operation Dobbin and are bombarding us with adverts for rescue racehorses…

I’d suggest no, the problems are numerous. They deserve a good home but you need really experienced and rich carers.

They are thoroughbred’s so need more costly stabling and food than cobs etc. They are prone to injury and vets bills - that’s often why ex. If retired they are sometimes knackered and broken.

imo a retired racehorse is best for experienced riders.

BTW, our Shire / cob is 26 year old now. We’ve had him since he was 11 months.

Oh, they’re being knocked into the long grass. I expect there’s some psy-ops going on, and they have their sights set on something more realistic which they’ll present to us as a sensible option in a couple of weeks…

They’re fairly experienced, been riding since they could walk really, and they’re 18 and nearly 16 now.

However, re racehorses, a good friend who is sort of neutral, but not really because she’s horsey but at least somewhat sane, told us about Godolphins rehoming scheme, they make sure the horse is medically sound socialise it, retrain it for civilian use and won’t put a horse up for adoption if they don’t think it would be suitable for a life away from the racing world. I looked into them and they seem to have a stellar reputation for animal welfare.

We’ll see.

Anyway, they will be too big to lay in front of the planned log burner…

Lol! I expect Ruby and the destructor cats might like the log burner though. They’ll just have to make do with the gas fire…

:scream_cat: had to replace any curtains yet?

This is true.

Little bastards ignore all the scratching poles and panels and have gone nuts on the sofas in the back room. Luckily they’re pretty knackered anyway so it’s not a disaster.

They’re not interested in my speakers though, other than sitting on top of them and haven’t tried shredding the grilles.

Have you thought about getting a pet more suited to family life, Rob?

Y’know, a wolverine or summat.

Sweet jesus man, spunk the available budget on some hideous new wrist adornment, then when the wailing starts shrug and go back to polishing your shiny new precious.

It’s the only sane thing to do.
