BBC News - Partygate: PM seeks to delay Commons vote on probe

UK politics is totally broken, there is no longer such a thing as democracy in this god forsaken shit hole of a country.

Of course there is, but only once every 4 years (or so).
As long as your understanding of democracy is an elected dictatorship

Got a reply from my MP today, she has changed her position slightly

Dear Kevin

Many thanks for your email on the Fixed Penalty Notice issued to the PM over events in Downing Street.

I am very sorry to hear about the way you have personally been affected during lockdown. These have been very difficult times for everyone and while restrictions were needed at the time to get through the pandemic, they came at a cost particularly for you.

As you will know I have spoken out publicly on these events as I fully recognise the anger and frustration people feel on this matter.

I can confirm that I will be voting for a referral of the matter to the privileges committee to be considered once the Police Investigation is fully completed and the Sue Gray report published.

Best Wishes,

Maria

I’m still waiting for a response to my email …:man_facepalming:

Tis a shame that they have pulled the amendment. Wonder which way she will vote now.

Hard man baker throws the towel in

Brexit hard man doesn’t normally stick his head above the parapet unless he knows which way the wind in blowing.

Conservative MPs are excellent at voting for self preservation. I suspect they’ve had some polling done and it’s horrible.

Any idea what time the vote is?

Yeah, he’s fucked.

It will go through on the nod, there won’t be a division vote.

How long it will take for the Parliamentary Privileges Committe to report is another matter

I doubt it’s news to him, he’s made a career out of it.

Honestly, I reckon there’s a small group of people in the Tory whips’ office trying to see how many times they can persuade Nadhim Zahawi to go on the Today programme and be made to look a fool defending something indefensible, only for them then, in just a few hours, to abandon the position he’s fought for.

It is literally out of The Thick Of It.

He does what he is told without question and has progressed to ministerial level on the back of it.
If Johnson goes and the Conservative Party get back to something like normal he will never be seen again.
