“Tax wealth not work.”

25 mins to get there.

So how are you going to do that Gary ? 25 mins and you didn’t say, I think.

You said doing it on our own would be very difficult so it would need to be international. I think you’re right about that. Are the US tech bros* and the Russian oligarchs on board ? You also appealed to the rich not to fight it because doing so would end up destroying the state(s) that provide them with the luxuries they so much enjoy. That sounds like telling people in the USA to stop burning oil because doing so will end up destroying … etc etc. How’s that going exactly ?

I accept there’s a problem, Personally I think there’s too much inequality and also that this country doesn’t pay enough in tax. But if anyone can work out a way of extracting a lot more tax (and we do need a lot more) from the super-rich then I’ll take my hat off to them. Because I don’t know of anyone who’s managed it so far without a (literally) bloody revolution. I’m not a historian though, so if there are examples of where it’s been done then please let me know.

*Actually Bill Gates has come to realise that his fortune would be better spent doing good things but, given his government, he’s doing the good things directly rather than by paying tax. And whatever else you might think of him (50 Shades of Grim) Musk is developing EVs and PV/battery systems.
