Well played
You do have the best trains, planes, buses, underground, taxis, water taxis, bike lanes and local employment opportunities than anywhere else though. A decent tram network is the one thing missing.
Absolutely. The population density can support it and needs it.
Low car ownership is a good thing IMO.
However
I just saw a young woman really struggling up the road with a Boris bike that had two half-flat tyres and every couple of yards she seemed to forget that it was also missing its chain so sheād try pedalling, almost keel over, and then revert to scooting it along.
Possible if you travel from where you live towards the centre of town. There were still journeys I had to make with work when I was down there which were a massive pain by public transport (Leatherhead/Sutton to Ealing, Bermondsey, Bromley etc.).
Never mind the unspeakablry arrogant assertions made by people who think 9 million people all think the same
Although it does apply to me at least.
It is and more cities and large towns need that sort of infrastructure. It can be done, as a visit to many north European countries will confirm. We just seem to get buses and thatās your lot, bar one or two such as Manchester.
Meanwhileā¦
The only important word in the headline is ārelevantāā¦
Indeed. I love a good tram system I do.
One Antwerpenaar friend not only doesnāt have a car, he doesnāt even have a driving license. Thereās an excellent tram and bus system, and the 40 minute train to Brussels runs every half an hour*.
* assuming that my pikey relations in Eppegem havenāt stolen the overhead lines as happened when I was over there last year
Didnāt realise that residents inside the ulez zone have to pay Ā£12.50 per day.
Presumed they would get some type of yearly permit
This is the problem, itās not a progressive tax. Thatās the line Starmer should have taken rather than pin it all on the Lab Mayor.
They have to pay it, even if they donāt actually use it on a particular day?
Iāve no words.
No they donāt, no use-no pay
Ā£60 a week to take kids to school.
Good, letāem walk
Thereāll be people complaining that theyāve got the use of a gym and a flat screen TV. There have already been some commentators suggesting that they work in the fields in return for their board and lodging.
Whatās the end result of this scheme?
Is it until they are processed?
If you canāt walk or use public transport, and use one of the 10% of vehicles within the expanded zone that arenāt compliant.
