I can see sole traders / small businesses / people just starting out / pensioners finding 12.50 per day to sit in traffic irksome. Probably not as irksome as being under the sea but thatās someone elseās problem I guess.
Once I get in power,Iāll be taxing cars by the miles traveled per year.

Most of them seem to think itās some kind of entitled boomerās help line. They whine about something that they could do themselves, but wonāt, and the magic pixies will sort it out for them.
I lived in London for a few years in the 80ās. Didnāt like it much.
I also spent ten years living in Paris at the turn of the century. Absolutely loved it.
Paris is a city that just works. Everything you could conceivably need is on your doorstep. The quality of the food, fruit and veg, patisserie, charcuterie etc was a different class.
Compared to London, the metro and buses were cheap and efficient, a pleasure to use. Rents were a fraction of the price of London. I had a lovely big flat in the heart of Montmartre for the price of a lock up in Peckham.
Thereās a thriving club scene, loads of jazz clubs and restaurants to die for. I went to loads of gigs ranging from St Germain to Simon and Garfunkel, Groove Armada to CSN and everything in between. Good life.
Everything in London was a struggle and it just wore me down. Glad to leave.
Iād still be in Paris if I wasnāt an only child. I had to return to the UK due to my old mumās failing health.

I turned down a job in Colorado for similar reasons, and later moved to London for similar reasons.
I was musing this evening that if I was single and still had my freedom of movement then I would have moved to Antwerp a couple of years ago.
If I was merely single then I would have sicced some lawyers onto fudging the nationality issues. I did have a brief look at it but they nearly all seem to specialise in asylum cases rather than lifestyle migrants 
You got them middle class white people blues.
