So the French PM, Gabriel Atall has resigned.
But there is no majority so Macron is off to the NATO summit tomorrow, then there is the 14th July Bastille Day major speech, then the Olympics and then the French go on holiday for August.
New Government will probably be formed in September, Atall may even be PM again depending if a centrist coalition is formed.
Macron stays as President and he cannot dissolve whatever new Government emerges for another year.
Think I will stick with NI politics, this is really confusing!
Cāest fou, but I believe this what the French voting system is designed to do, soak up the protest and then come to its senses. Albeit that it is swinging madly right to left and currently no clear path to a majorityā¦

The two vote system does tend to make people step back from the brink.
Maybe we should have used the system for the Brexit vote!

The number one puppeteer with his hand up Bravermanās arse is our local MP, Sir John Hayes. He lobbied Sunak very hard indeed to prevent her sacking. Heās a long term member of the ERG and the so-called āCommon Sense Groupā - i.e. heās far to the right of the party. Heās a string puller who stays behind the scenes while others take the flakā¦

Sam managed to collar him at the count* and tell him in no uncertain terms that the only hope the tories have to get back into power in the next ten years is to return to being a centre-right party, and leave extremism to Reform.

IF heās changing direction, it certainly wonāt be a moral choice, it will be political and personal expediency, for sure.
I agree that there has been corruption evident, but proving crime where incompetence has played so large a part could be a huge and futile distraction, and a waste of scarce resources.
I feel there are subtler and yet quicker ways to thrash the bastards - hit them in the pocket closing tax and accountability loopholes, and take a great deal back into public ownership that they and their chums have been parasitising, for exampleā¦
I was over seeing my Mum today for the first time since the election and had a good chinwag about it all and while weāre both realistic about where the country is; there is also a hint of optimism as well.
The one thing that was abundantly clear though is just how much these Tory bastards have to answer for.
