Motoring horrors aka Edd wants

Saw a white tinted and lowered 'coupe in Lewisham some years back. Had a loud spund system too.

It looked the dog’s bollocks to me at the time!

I think they have just mis-identified the car in the advert. It’s described in the text as an original P5B - all correct with the Buick V8 engine that Rover bought the rights to in about 1967 fitted as standard.

They also used that engine in lots of other vehicles including Landies, Rangies and the SD1 but there’s no reason for a crossover when the earlier car already had the engine - unless I suppose you wanted a 5-speed box which the SD1 did have… which that one doesn’t have.

Alternatively have this to troll pfm.

Meh !

Maybe, with this car, but there’s a whole slew of SD1 P5B designated cars, not just this one.

It wasn’t like this; ot resembled the coupe posted above- just in white- actually Old English White- it simply had modern alloy rims on it. :nerd_face:

You can find a bit more detail on the wiki page if you’re interested:

That’s a fucking honey, that is! :star_struck::star_struck::star_struck:

I had an occasional holiday job industrial cleaning at Rover in the late 70’s.

There actually was a custom made building called SD1 in the middle of the site with the production line where they built that model.

Some of my favourites, seen at one of their open days were the gas turbine powered experiments including the Rover 90 based version of which JET1 was the most famous example.

But we also saw one of the Rover BRM Le Mans cars. Either of them when they came past you, even slowly, were like being next to an aeroplane such was the whistling!

Related to the Rover Gas Turbine project:

Also formed the motive power for the BR APT-P and and a number of Emergency Generators for hospitals and shit.:nerd_face:

Yes, the odd bell crank suspension design of the Rover P6 was designed to accommodate a GT lump… :nerd_face:

The point about a proper Rover saloon is that a gentleman does not have to remove his hat when driving, unlike lesser motor cars.
