Yeah, I love that thing. I do feel like Merc are being a little bit generous to themselves over referring to the Red Pig as “it’s legendary race car” - sure they made the chassis, but at that time AMG was a completely separate entity, and I just don’t get the feeling that Merc would have ever had the balls to take such an (on paper at least) ill suited car to Le Mans.
It’s also a complete tragedy that the original didn’t survive, because AMG couldn’t afford to keep it as an heirloom piece AND keep developing new stuff. It was turned into a testbed for a while I think.
