You do have the weight of the battery spread over both axles though.
All depends on the tyres and the traction control system. Czechia does have some snow so they should at least have thought about it.
Good size doggo boot as well.
My understanding is that as long as you have proper winter tires on them, RWD Beemers are fine on moderate snow (sure, you may not want them as a daily driver if you live in northern Sweden or somewhere).
They’re fine with winter tyres. Also modern traction control systems are quite good.
Yes we bought the car today and they explained just that. also as @coco points out the modern traction control is very advanced. Putting the car in ECO significantly reduces the drive to the rear wheels.
The test drive taught me I have a lot to learn!
So should get it in a week or so.
Great stuff Mick, have you got a home charging point?
Looking into it today. Will aim to have the recommended Ohme charger installed. My mate is on the ozev government approved installer register.
On an EV tariff already or are we going to have the Octopus code pile on?
We don’t have an EV tariff I’m told - Jan says we will be staying with Octopus and she says we can switch immediately.
Otherwise no idea what a code pile on is, any advice appreciated.
Congratulations it’s a lovely car it’s on my shortlist to demo
If they have a demo, ask for the deal on that - we got £10k off new car with 990 miles on the clock.
Anyone introducing someone to Octopus got a discount for them and the person of 50 quid when they moved, and there are a number of us with them…
OK. we’ve been with Octopus for years so not for us.

Take sunglasses as that coating looks fantastic!
Looked at a couple of Mercs (among many others) before I bought the bim - the whole user interface was the most incomprehensible and unintuitive of any brand I tried, and since that’s the bit that matters the most, it put me off the whole brand. The fact it looks like a morbidly-obese Seat Leon isn’t wholly compelling either, but I guess that’s not an issue for you or you wouldn’t be asking…
Spikes and a long, spiny tail would improve it greatly ![]()
+1 based on a number of recent rentals; the Merc UI was very capable but not user-friendly or intuitive, whereas the Volvo was well laid out, had hard switches for the key stuff and was easy to navigate for the rest - miles better for the driver. The Audi i drove (last year admittedly) was similar to the Volvo - again a nicer experience for the driver.
I had each of those for a week so not much time to get to know them - and YMMV of course
