Iāve had the EQB 350 for just over a year and 20k miles. Itās a good car, nice to drive, feels planted in corners even though itās quite high. Four wheel drive is good in snow, mud and loose stone but I wouldnāt be taking it up a mountain. Range isnāt great but is extremely accurate. Never had an issue with range dropping too much in cold or mid journey unlike my old Tesla. Build quality is miles better than Tesla too.
Bad bits, range could be better, annoying haptic buttons on steering whelp you occasionally brush accidentally changing the radio station or the display. Mines is a company car so I donāt pay for maintenance but itās fcking expensive. I just had windscreen replaced due to a large chip and the bill was over 2k. Merc also want you to service it every year even though there is fck all for them to service.
UI Took a wee while to get used to and whilst itās not as good as BMW itās absolutely fine once you get the hang of it. Physical buttons for heaters and A/C
My Murk has apple car play so I just spend 99% of the time in something that works in a vaguely similar way to my phone.
Since Iām pretty much set on older car, financial Armageddon later next year, the first thing Iāll be doing is adding car play in some form or another either via a complete head unit replacement or plug in box wotsit.
Back when I was in my JDM phase Lambo doors were rather popular on āBishi GTOs. Utter horror show.
A diseasal Alfa is just too sensible though. Iām thinking ludicrous V8 as I only do about 3000 miles a year. My main issue is finding something without inherent flaws, which is incredibly difficult as most manufacturers seem to want to fuck you over in some way. See Porsche and their bores and ims bearings, Mercedes and stretchy head bolts, bore scoring again, Audi and their chocolate gearboxes, BMW and their love of Christmas on the dashboards, cheese bearings and inability to hold their fluids on the inside.
Weirdly the least shitty engine seems to be the 4.7 Maserati although they do have rusty subframes and rotting interiors.
There seem to be sweet spot years itās just working or what they are or there is the āeasy routeā of an old 500 SEC and replacing the audio or a Lexus ISF / GSF but I prefer coupes and RCFs arenāt quite in my price range without miles or being imported.
Naturally once things start in earnest I shall inform this august organisation for the usual ridicule and piss takery to be distributed.
I looked after / car sat a 3.0 Cloverleaf for many months once.
Gorilla driving position, sports mode and all..
Car sitting involved taking it to an aftermarket fix it Italian guy in Guildford - he was a character!
At a speed of roughly 34mph based on observations of others of its type. Whatās notable is that this is regardless of setting. A Jazz placed at one end of Runway 17/35 at Edwardsā Air Force base in California will travel at 34mph for the entire 11,917m length. Similarly, if a Jazz were to be placed at one end of The Shambles in York, it would also travel at 34mph.
