A real shame, many a happy teen year reading 2000ad. Might just have to go and get the collection out for a read of one of the longer Dredd stories.
Personally I would cut him some slack.
He was a major part of the GFA.
The only sensible thing to come out of NI for a hundred years
You donât have to agree with all of his politics, but he had to take personal and political risks to get it over the line. Everyone had to compromise.
You make a good point and I hear you. Nonetheless, in my opinion, if you wear a sash and march with bigots youâre a bigot.
Although I really donât like that the people who have ended up in power on both sides of NI post GFA are the extremists rather than those (Trimble and Hume) who actually did the compromising.
Trimble was an extremist, he just hid it quite well.
I was over there for the Drumcree standoff in 95 and he was in the thick of the shit stirring.
Compared to Paisley and Sinn Fein?
I wasnât comparing.
The only people who have a clue or care about the issues in NI are a load of boggle eyed sectarian extremists in NI and Glasgow,
No one else gives a fuck as long as they arenât killing each other.
Not killing each other is the only important bit.
Anyone who managed to move the communities from killing each other to not killing each other deserves some measure of respect.
I donât think somebodies death is a reason to open a debate about the history of NI.
If people want that debate please start a new thread so I can ignore it
You should set up that Golf and Rolex forum.
I donât think he realises that most of the forum have him on ignore anywayâŚ
