Weirdly I was first led to The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, via the sample in this tune in my relative yoot:

Her version probably earned more money in royalties for Ewan MacColl than anything else he ever did.

And he hated her take on it. Mind you, he hated every other cover version too.

I’m sure he didn’t hate the money.

In that case he no doubt donated every penny of his royalties to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Great Britain? :thinking:

Never give up on your dreams mate.

MacColl has a plaque there, and I am sure some of his writings are part of the library, but not sure he ever had anything else to do with that building. It is owned by Salford Council
