Great artist but I never understood why Alice Cooper’s Welcome To My Nightmare cover was so revered.

Can’t say I was a big fan, but Kiss were quite entertaining , and Ace was a pretty good guitarist:

Feels like the end of an era. Saw the final lineup during the ‘End Of The Road’ tour in 2019 as Sam was a fan, enjoyed it more than I expected TBH - like any pop act with longevity, they were entertainers first and foremost.

Since I’m going a-metalling tonight I was mulling this only this morning.

The Christian right in the US clutching their pearls about “satanism” will never get that metal is primarily cosplay and Grand Guignol.

Well put.

Kiss were glam rockers who were late to the party - typical Americans!

I ‘saw’ KISS at Donnington Monsters of Rock ‘88 sadly I didn’t really pay that much attention to them as I was deep into my metal snob phase and more interested in GnR, megadeth and of course maiden not some bemakeupped poseurs from across the pond. I was busy hurling empty plastic bottles at other dirty greebos in a mud pit during their set. The GnR set was terrifying, the crowd surge was awful and I remember trying to help people stay upright who’d got tangled up in some stray tarpaulin.

I later came to appreciate KISS when I moved to Texas and heard them in their correct cultural setting.

Not snobby enough if you’re bracketing GnR as metal

Are we talking technical death party sludge or technical party death sludge?

Either way I couldn’t tell you if I went to Donington in 88. Given where I was physically (Chipping Sodbury ) I suspect not.

Shhhh. Appetite is their only album.

RIP MTV for actual music programming in the UK. The main reality tv channel remains but they’re killing the rest.
