In the early 90s, we ran the Angel in Thayer St. Marylebone.
Him and his brother used to cycle around London rather than pay for petrol or taxis.
They behaved like demigods.
We had a falling out and gave our notice. We agreed to the notice period as written in our contract. They tried to withhold our deposit.
A new non SS pub later, a court case, and money plus costs returned.
They then slagged us off in the brewery magazine.
Pure class !

Sam knows many tales of the brothers. Arseholes of truly epic proportions; legendary for all the wrong reasons. But good beer. Pretty much the Audio Note UK of brewing.
Bit of a shame theyâll now disappear as a satellite brand of one of the megapiss corporations.

Ervin LĂĄszlĂł, 94.
Born in Budapest in 1932, Ervin studied at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, and the University of Paris, He was a philosopher of science, systems theorist, integral theorist, classical pianist celebrated as a child prodigy playing his first concert at age 9, an advocate of the theory of quantum consciousness, a Nobel nominee, and peace activist and humanitarian. He was often described as âa gentle personâ and wrote more than 70 books (translated into nineteen languages), and published over four hundred articles and research papers.
His work in Akashic Field Theory tends to be regarded as either nonsense, or revelatory. The zero-point Akashic Field is described as the constant and enduring memory of the universe, holding the record of all that has happened on Earth and in the cosmos. Ervin believed that such an informational field can explain why our universe appears to be âfine-tunedâ (itself an area of study) so as to form galaxies and conscious lifeforms; and why evolution is an informed, not random, process.
He was also interested in consciousness theories, especially the work of Anthony Peake who sought to explain how altered states of consciousness such as déjà vu, dreams, psychedelic drug experiences, meditation, and near death experiences sometimes feature precognition and premonitions.
Regardless of individual views, he was an interesting chap. He was a thinker, which sets him apart from so many so-called celebrities these days.

Bonnie Tyler
Sad. Saw her at Silverstone (of all places) a couple of years ago. She must have been about 70 and put on a really good, energetic show.

Not very interesting fact - Bonnie opened my cousinâs record shop in the Uplands, Swansea in the early 80s.
