I’m not a Rush fan either but I found the documentary on netflix fascinating.

Sad to hear about Neil Peart. Saw Rush in the late 70s, not long after their Farewell to Kings album was released, and he had an absolutely monstrous drum kit as befitted a prog drummer in those days.

I was lucky enough to see them live a few times a tremendous live band. The best ever was at the Glasgow Apollo in 1980 - epic to my 14 year old self.

My dad liked Rush (and scorpion) so I grew up listening to them.
Most definitely not my cup of tea although I did get the Floyd bug from him (luckily not the prog virus/disease though)

I guess as I get older my heroes will die. Zappa, Emerson, Squire, Lake, et al, but fuck this hurts.
I’m a big Rush fan but more so a fan of Peart.
When I was starting to think I was a good enough drummer to play in a Prog band, I heard what Peart was capable of. It made me realise that I could aspire to achieve 1% of his skill and still be a decent drummer. Fuck he was good.

Retired himself from Rush in 2015 & not long after was diagnosed with brain cancer. Saw the tv doc where he travelled from gig to gig on his bike that was a huge part of his life. Like his daughter & wife passed way to soon, he’s with them now.
Rush were a guilty pleasure in some ways, had to drag the missus along to see them as no one else would go. But what a fucking great live band and instrumentalists they were.

Other way round here - Sam was a big fan, so took her to see them in Brum for her b’day a few years ago (2012?).
Not a fan, didn’t expect much - was blown away. A sad loss.

Shocked. Rush were my favourite band as a teenager in the early eighties. Saw them a couple of times, what a phenomenal drummer he was.
