Oh bugger. Another talent gone and apparently an all round nice guy. RIP

Yes, I used to love his TV series - The Innes Book of Records. :slightly_frowning_face:

Also his contributions to Eric Idle’s Rutland Weekend Television

and did this get borrowed for Oasis’s song Whatever?

From the Guardian obituary

Innes’ spoof songs were targeted by Beatles publisher ATV Music who successfully argued that Lennon and McCartney should be added to the songwriting credits, and settled out of court with Innes’ publisher. After another legal dispute, Innes was added to the credits of Oasis’s song Whatever, which was deemed to have imitated his song How Sweet to Be an Idiot. ā€œThe music business is like a school where big boys come and take your candy away,ā€ Innes said in 2013. ā€œNo other business in the world gets away with stealing like the music business – apart from banking.ā€

Another artistic giant gone frowning_face:

His covers leapt out of the record racks. In the case of the Cocteau twins there were no words, but that was all part of the experience

Unlike the local newspaper, I have noticed that people in this thread are not dying in alphabetical order. Could I appeal for some semblance of order as it’s fucking with my ocd. Thank you.

From reports , he took his own life.
Very sad. I remember him as a blood and guts defender. When he made his debut for us as a sub he couldn’t get his wedding ring off so instructed the physio to cut it off. Fully committed.
RIP.

Do football physios routinely carry a set of bolt cutters or similar?

Bolt cutters would be a bit overkill for a wedding band.

A very solid player for Cardiff.

Malcom Steward

He was a journalist who wrote a good deal about HiFi & who was a big fan of the way Naim did things. I met him a few times & liked him despite his tastes in HiFi. He was a good writer though.

He was quite unwell in recent years & then had a very serious car accident (related to the illness) which hospitalised him for the last 3 or 4 years. I don’t think he ever came out.again.

A few years ago, Malcolm had a stroke while driving. This & the resultant crash left him brain damaged and with multiple injuries.

Also his case also highlighted the shortage of beds intensive care.

I’m not a fan of Rush, but I did like his book Ghost Rider, about his epic motorcycle journey that he undertook to try and come to terms with the closely spaced death of his daughter and wife.

Shit that is too young.

But he was a drummer, and a busting one, so he might have anticipated it.
