I enjoyed LA Shakedown, its a bit more raw and much lower budget, but it also made me realise how much more nuance was in the performances of Pacino and Deniro put into Heat
LOL, I’ve never even attempted to watch the remake.
A favourite, great soundtrack to Manhunter as well! I’ve a bit of a soft spot for Michael Mann films to be fair…(Heat, Theif, Collateral, The Insider, Miami Vice etc) and even ‘The Keep’!
All time classic:
Dire remake:
Its about as good as the Italian Job remake…
My fav director - Last of the Mohicans too. Brilliant
Just beat me to it.
Wings of Desire is one of my all time favourites.
The Nicholas Cage abomination is just shocking.
I mean, what were they thinking?
Bruno Ganz, Nicholas Cage, just, no.
It’s way worse than that!
Marvellous film, totally ruined by the remake
Even by the standards on this thread, this one was abysmal. They got the car right. They got absolutely evrything else wrong.
The Cage in Funzie - I’d watch that
same director on both, unusual.
How do you stand on remakes that are more homage or change to a different genre.?Magnificent 7 vs Seven Samurai as an example.
As for straight up remakes, then,
Assault on precinct 13, I prefer the Richet remake to the Carpenter original.
Oh, any Disney original animated film over the recent batch of remakes, just any of them.
Taking of Pelham 123, I really enjoyed both version to be fair.
Oh and The Thomas Crown Affair. Both McQueen and Brosnan versions are great.
Love Brosnan’s remake, not fussed at all on the original though.
