Hi Guys .Im asking for your help ..as most of you are aware I have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and at the moment there is no known cure ,although there is medication to slow the disease down and I’m taking it ..I do have slower movements and reactions and some days balance problems but I’m to carry on regardless and try to live my normal as I can but without sounding selfish I’d like to see a cure found not only for me but for the 1000’s fellow sufferers also ..
Unfortunately research costs money and sadly Parkinson’s isn’t too well supported apart from Michael J Fox who has it and funds a few projects..
Anyway saying all this I am asking if you would help sponsor my son in law Graham and his friend whose dad also suffers from it ..
They have been in training in a canoe on the River Tees for a few months now 6.00 am starts 2/3 times a week in preparation for a trip in Scotland to do the Great Glen canoe trail..starting at Fort William and finishing in Inverness ..a distance of around 60 miles over Easter weekend ….All monies raised will go directly to Parkinson’s Uk …
Thanks for reading and hoping for your support however much it will all help …Micky
I was surprised to learn literally yesterday that the husband of one of Claire’s friends was diagnosed with Parkinson’s seven years ago, in his late 50’s. They’d kept it quiet all this time for family reasons (now no longer apply).
Firstly I’d like to express my gratitude to those of you who have donated so far .The lads set off at 6.00 am this morning on their journey up to Fort William ..where they will setup tent and get ready to start tomorrow the task of paddling the canoe through the canals and lochs z
They are hoping to complete 20 miles per day in this ..The fund is at £2368 currently..Updates will be available on the link at the top ..Hope the weather holds out for them
Again many thanks Micky

Well done to all for organising and posting about this. it has brought back memories On day two the paddlers will be going close to Letterfinlay lodge on the side of loch Lochy - Claire and I stayed there over thirty years ago when she was preggers with FOL1. Also just six miles away and nearly twenty years ago my twin brother Steve, a keen canoeist , came a cropper on the river Roy.
Loch Lochy done, brutal headwind and 6hrs to do 10 miles. Fuelled up and pushing on to catch up some time.
This is todays update…their plan was to try to get to St Augusta this evening
