Pick me ups

You and me, we’re the same…apart from the mileage.

A 2013 Hilux Ivincible, 3 litre automatic 1 owner from new, original purchase receipt and recipts for every bit of work done on it. Timing belt, brakes. Totally mollicoddled and 150k miles.

You’re not really narrowing it down there.

Hat, jaunty angle, so thin you could x-ray him with a 40w bulb.

Well played, patrician choice :ok_hand: I’m quite a bit relieved.

A friend locally had a similar vintage Navara - ironically the only thing that didn’t break was the chassis - didn’t leave the workshop often enough to rust…

I was so close to getting a Navara. Very happy i didnt , even if i only have it a year or turns out to be a dog I won’t lose much I’d have thought.

Local garage that has been supporting my van for years raves about Hilux of that vintage. He can give it the once over when i get it next week. Assuming it doesn’t fall to bits on way back.

It’s also got a strange colour of seat, a kind of hearing aid brown leather.

Similar to a weak cup of tea.

Wipe clean tho, so that’s a bonus.

The supply situation has improved, but prices are still very strong - huge demand from anyone with any sort of business that needs to carry shit and/or tow trailers. Be amazed if you lose anything in the short term - helped by the 2016 onwards model starting with only one really shit engine option and a massive price rise… The older vehicles are much better. I’ll miss mine, but I can’t afford the fuel and so never go anywhere any more, which is daft.

Can you get them remapped?

Harsh but fair :joy:

Was kind of hoping this was going to be a discussion on the merits of solvent abuse.

I use a DTUK external chip on a moderate setting - took a few goes to get the responsiveness and torque feel right, at the time no-one was remapping - out of touch now, but unlikely I should think. 200bhp is adequate on a vehicle like this.

Yes Serge :+1:

1000 terrorist organisations can’t be wrong. If ever I felt the need to own a pick up truck then a HiLux would be the entirety of my list.
Nissan are now just French rot boxes.
The only other viable option would be a lobotomy and a dodge with the engine donated to the viper.

I have recently had an Isuzu DMax for a day and really liked it, only thing that stopped me buying one was I have no reason to own one

Driven my mates 2023 hilux too, but that was without a box on the back and it was too tail happy/bouncy so couldn’t work out what it would be like with the weight on the back. The DMax had a box and a draw system inside so had plenty of weight on the back.

See plenty of Ford rangers around this way too. Seems to be builders get rangers, farmers get Isuzu and rich people get hilux’s.

That is interesting as it was the suspension that nearly swung me towards the Navara.

The Navara has coils on the back apparently which makes the drive smoother and the HiLux has leaf springs which make it a bit bouncy.

By the time I’ve got it loaded up, hopefully that’ll sort the bounce.

What about the bucket facilities? Maybe you could employ one of those?

I’ll get a feel for it driving the frigger back from Leeds.
