Going to be served with roasted new pots (only potatoes we could find) and Ćwikła (Polish beetroot and horseradish).

Pickled Veg is a excellent idea. Something to pick up on a walk in the next few days.

New potatoes roasted are terrific. I usually just boil them for 7 or 8 minutes before they go into the oven.

Meat and potato pie. Best effort at pastry for a while. No soggy bottom (and the pie was lovely too)…

That looks epic

It was actually great. There was an unexpected amount of faff involved, especially with making the pastry. If only the aesthetics matched the taste. It looked a bit ragged and was a pain in the arse to cut without it falling to bits…

Did you blind bake the bottom before putting the filling in?

No.It is a Hairy Biker’s recipe. You make the filling and let it go completely cool. Then you make and chill the pastry before assembly. Filling goes in on the base, then lid on and 35 minutes at 200C or until pastry is golden.

Rolling out the pastry to fit the pie dish was a 'mare…
