Pork scratchings

It’s 16 now so of the age where problems arise. It failed on corroded brake pipes last year. And the hand brake the year before. I hope the suspension, brakes and tyres are fine. I will let you know.

Turned out the cat was moving inside the housing and was pushed up against the lamda sensor.

Porsche replacement was quite spendy so my manager bought this nicely made after market thingy.

It has “flown” the MOT according to Ken at the garage :).

However, the rattle is coming from the rear exhaust and he cannot see anything loose. I would not be at all surprised if it is the same problem of rattling cats. The garage will spend another hour checking it but they say I may need to take it to an exhaust specialist like Longlife.

Can you point me to the nicely made after market thingy please Rob? What sort out outfit / operation would I need to fit it please?

I’ll ask the boss, we actually fitted it DIY job.

He had the X-pipe version at around 700quid, there is a standard one at around 549.

Could be engine mounts if one side lower. DIY job, not that I’ve done it!
Dare say there’ll be vids on Youtube.
Forums report Sporty mounts can lead to added noise &/or vibration.
Good luck.

I asked the garage and they said engine mounts are fine. Long life have quoted a similar price to the above for a new exhaust. I’ll probably leave it for a bit due to new house purchase. It’s going fine, just an annoying rattle when going over certain bumps.

Glynn has the sporty mounts on his, said it didn’t make much difference… YMMV etc.

I was lucky enough to take a friends Cayman 981 Series out for a spin last weekend and I have to say I was utterly gobsmacked!
I’ve owned (and written off!:man_facepalming:t2:) some lower level fun cars in the past (several Toyota MR2’s, tricked out MeganeSport , R5 turdo) and a few quickish bikes, but I have to say this was on another level.
I’ve also driven a few M3’s which were probably quicker, but NOTHING has compared to the sheer excitement of the Cayman. Flat 6 sports exhaust noise and unstickable go-cart handling did it for me big time.
I know many of you folks are members of the 911 club, and realise I will never achieve such heights and am indeed a tad envious, but I can’t help wondering how and where you use the extra available performance?
(Truth beknown I’ll never reach even lesser true Porsche ownership, but I can but dream my best mate will cark it early (preferably not in a serious RTA!:scream_cat:) and leave her Cayman to me in her will?)

Is this wrong?

I did offer offer her my ‘57 Strat and Lowden acoustic in a possible exchange death deal but she seemed strangely uninterested!:woman_shrugging:t3:

Center Gravity lent me their Boxter when the 911 C2S cab was in for suspension fettling.
Was impressed.
For the money they’re a lot of car & a great deal of fun.

what’s that then?

I drove a 718 and thought the 981 was way nicer.

Mind you I quite fancy the 4l flat 6 718 as a last ICE hurrah

Bleedin typo is what it is :grinning:

718 is pretty much unobtanium. Chip, production reasons.
Mate has one with PDK & its worth 10K + over what he paid.

when we spoke dealer offered me a build slot for 12 months time (delivery July 2022) - got about 18 months left with the Targa, so a little time to think about what’s next.

Zero depreciation motoring and a brilliant road car you can take on a track.

what a 718 generally or the 4l? I hated the 718 I drove when I was handing back the 981…

doesn’t bother me, I lease I only care about the price per month, and cheaper than the Targa (as nice as it is) would be good.

Know the Targa has been a PITA.
Tough call then.
