Fabulous to hear, well done Ava and congrats to you all.
I wasn’t suggesting it was actually possible. But education in this country could be way better. Ava has been lucky…
Nail. Head. I’m afraid the country can’t afford it (or just won’t - we’d need to know the numbers in detail to decide which).
Congratulations to Ava though. Her rewards are richly (no puns intended ) deserved.
Apologies for the continued OT but the numbers say can’t get anything close to that (the schools budget is about 2.3% of GDP) but won’t pay even what it costs for what we do have at the moment given school deficits for next year.
So if 4-5 is the number then 10-12% of GDP spent on schools should replicate the support Ava had. The numbers I was wondering about included ‘How much help would economies of scale be ?’ and ‘How much of the benefit would we get if, say, we doubled what we spend now, or even just raised it 50% ?’.
Seeing this, Mutoid Waste tribute to Nik Turner at Glasto ( Joe Banks) reminded me that niece #2 painted a lot of the background sets for this installation.
She’s not official Mutoid Waste, they’re her Dad’s mates. Apparently she initially claimed that “I’m not that sort of artist” until they offered her £15/hr…
Go Ava. Seems very much like the sort of young lady who will be what she wants to be.
I’m guessing you wouldn’t want to be standing in her way …
Ha! She’s not difficult or tricky at all. She is becoming very educated though. If I get in a political discussion with her, she will deliver a tsunami of facts. She makes me feel thick and very old!
My son has just completed his first year of Politics and International Studies at Warwick.
Good luck
Nice. Is he getting on well?
He is. He’s a card carrying Labour Party member and has a strong opinion on everything. Which he likes to debate constantly.
Unfortunately
Haha, just the same as Ava. She’s currently fuming because she found that something was wrong with her membership and now can’t go to conference in September.
She is also fuming because Lana Del Rey played Venice Bitch at Wembley last week, but didn’t in Liverpool when we saw her the weekend before. She’s still a teen then, and right now watching random bollocks on tiktok.
I feel your pain.
It just feels like pigs at the slaughter no matter the education
I don’t envy Ava and Lovebucket Jnr, if they have any ambitions of public life they need to be incredibly aware of their online footprint.
Thank fuck mobiles and cameras weren’t around when I was a teenager.
OK cameras were about but not everyone had one in their pocket!
