Quality old drama series

Was thinking about some amazing old BBC dramas that were kicking around at the same time.

Day of the Triffids too, but feels like it’s been done to death.

Edge of Darkness is one of my all-time favourites. It was recently “remastered” so you can get it in HD on Amazon etc. The DVDs were a bit shonky.

Jedburgh is a great character.

Yeah, Edge of Darkness is absolutely outstanding.

ITV '79 -'82 IIRC - Sapphire & Steel.

Edit: Looks like you can watch them all on ITV’s hub -

Mmmm, Lumley.

From more recent times (1996) there is a repeat of The Crow Road on BBC4 tonight from 10 / 10.10.

I started watching that one insomniac night when I found it in the depths of Sky on demand.

Shoestring was another staple, along with Strangers with Mark McManus on ITV.

Although maybe not ‘dramas’ in the strictest terms.

Harry’s Game was another I can remember

Harry’s Game was great. I recently rewatched Our Friends in the North & really enjoyed it. Stood up surprisingly well 25 years on.
