Just got a call to say both my decks are ready after servicing so looks like I might sack off some work tomorrow and go fetch them - have a few recent tapes I’m keen to play properly.

Working order (tested) and servicing makes a massive difference to value. If you haven’t seen and heard it assume the worst.
It’s for sale locally @ £550 advert states working but full service advisable

If you want Prince on reel tape then its going to acquiring a safety copy from somewhere which is also likely to have originally been a child copy of the master and you don’t really know what generation the tape in front of you is a copy of etc.
As we know from Susan Rogers, Prince was more interested in quantity of music and getting it out of his head and onto tape more than worrying about how good it sounded on playback.
