Reel 2 Reel - bottomless pit of faff, expense and hisssssssss

This looks potentially interesting and good value if it has been properly serviced as described.

Nah not for me. Maybe one of the guys who stayed up to listen to Isaac Hayes on Saturday

Surprised there hasn’t been any feedback from anyone on that - I would love to have heard that it’s such a great recording on plain old vinyl and CD.

This is a fun watch, the big fella at work

Thrashing out the arrangement over R2R before going into the studio to record the brass section with x1 mic is a lovely little process snapshot

Marvellous.

Nothing will ever top my visit to Stax Studios

I’m probably the only one of the bunch who stayed up (@MonitorGold10 @Stepmotheratomicbomb @SAP7 @octh ) to listen, who’s heard it without the sonic boost of a days worth of alcohol

Memories might be err, hazy

I bought a copy (on CD) immediately after the tape finished! I’ve never heard that album before… Fucking awesome album! :sunglasses:

I wish I’d heard it. Black Moses sounds very fine & no doubt this would be similar qualitywise.

Love the casually flown VoTTs in that studio pic.

He’s one of the greats.

I’ll record it on my phone playing from the reel through the horns for you - it’ll be just like being in the room

I remember it very well despite being full of booze , and agree it’s out there and essential I will be getting a copy or a dub at some point …next year I will be more organised.

Thoroughly enjoyed that evening when we started hitting the top shelf

I left too early this year (was tired) but should’ve done one properly late night!

Guessing this was intended to be portable in the 70s
