Couldn’t say no to this for the price. Always liked the looks when the record and playback section are separate to the transport. This is will record and playback two track but also has a 4track playback head for pre recorded tapes. Hopefully doesn’t take much to get it back up and running.

Is it sounding as good as you remember when you fell head over heels at Lopwell?
A difficult one. It’s still mighty impressive. Maybe a bit hard in upper midrange but then the room it’s set up in at the moment is quite large and then also changed the output valves since lopwell. Then there’s the amount of beers involved and although the Teac seems to be happy enough in operating it’s not been looked at serviced/calibrated etc. all in though it still has that massive scale, depth and tangibility to being there.
