Rest In Peace Dave

Very sad to hear this news, I met Dave recently when I collected the amps he sold me, lovely guy with some great stories and a genuine love for trying / listening to new stuff so a kindred spirit

RIP Dave, enjoy the next one

Dave was a delight to talk with , one night in munich may 2016 , i just happened to clean , wipe my glasses on my shirt , i was 65 then and dave 75 , …he looked across and i said you not got glasses then , he said no, oh i said you got contact lenses then …oh no he said ive got 20/20 vision …i was gobsmacked, then he said ive had an op on my eyes …if all the world was like dave there would be no more wars and heartache,…he will be sorely missed by all who new him.

Hi Alan,

Sorry for your loss, he was, as you can see here, very well thought of here.

There is going to be a gaping hole at the next few bake offs. He was always such a pleasure to talk to.

Rest easy Dave.

Very sad to hear this today.
Dave was always good company and so very generous. The first time I ever met him we talked about music and then he sent me a pile of CDs he thought I’d enjoy.
I’ll always remember him as one of life’s good guys.
I’m going to play one of those CDs tonight and remember him.
Rest peacefully my friend

Oh no, terrible news I did not know he was ill. Loved his stories of 60s & 70s mixing with the great and the good, just sliding it into conversations! Loved the TV adverts too

I was fortunate to met Dave a fair number of times, at Bake Off and Scalford over the years. I was also fortunate to have been influenced by his ‘esoteric’ taste in hifi, once the Doge 6 Pre-Amp (which I think I bought off him from his flat in Richmond (if I remember correctly) and second the F117 Nighthawk. He lent me his F117 for a very extended loan which ended in me buying my own!

A true gent and I shall miss the Chelsea chat in the footie threat too!

I didn’t know Dave, but there is a lot of love and respect here for him. He seemed to have lived a full life and rather enjoyed doing it.

I do remember those Tv adverts, but I didn’t know that it was him, they were excellent and made me smile !

I wish I could had met him, as he seemed to always have interesting stories to tell from what I have read so far.

My condolences go to his family and to all his friends here, who will obviously miss an admired gentleman.

RIP Dave.

Well put Hap. I’ve refrained from saying anything because it’s difficult for me not knowing him personally, but you’ve summed it up nicely.
Thank you.
And much heartfelt condolences to all of you who knew him and so obviously loved him. He’s left a huge hole in this community.
:disappointed:

Dave will be sorely missed. I never met him in person only via the forum but what a gent he was. The world is a poorer place for his passing. I will continue to remember him every day as I see the amps that were once his.

Sad news. I only interacted with Dave through the football corner of the site, but from reading this thread that’s one hell of a life he’s led, and a great many people who think so very fondly of him.

I think Dave should be the honourary winner of the league this year

Still had 20/20 until his dying day -that was remarkable to me :slightly_smiling_face:
