Shiny brand new second hand things in my system today V1.2

8000A is a good find. I had a pair of Mk1 Diamonds (saved my paper round money). They were ace.

Got yourself a new slow-cooker?

What is it? My first thought was Ariston RD40 but actually it’s nothing like one.

Hi Guy, the TT was scratch built by Ian, Admin on Lenco Heaven. It’s an idler wheel with a very heavy Mission platter, sounds great. If you can be arsed you could read the thread here Login

In terms of Wharfedale’s Diamonds, I’d recommend that you go for the Diamond 3, as the soft dome tweeter was better than the Audax used in the 1 & 2.

I worked for Wharfedale back then, firstly in the R&D dept and then the marketing dept. Happy times…

Thank you. Will bear in mind. If you worked at Wharfedale, were you a member of the Idle Workingman’s Club?

Ha! Well… I played snooker for Eccleshill Working Men’s Club, and played often against Idle WMC.

I lived in Idle for a while, 2002-2008, before my partner passed away from breast cancer.

Not happy times…

Sorry to read that. Commiserations.

Just running in from the variable output of my Sony CDP and sounding very good so far. Haven’t taken the protection off the wooden surrounds yet though!

I am sure that veils will be lifted once you do.

Are you listening from your couch?

It feels a bit like that. These have a customer and I’m terrified of dinging them in any way.

Exciting times, how’s the bass?

Very solid albeit into type K sized speakers, but plenty of weight into those. These are amongst the very best power amps I’ve heard/used. Extraordinarily fast, clear and dynamic. Silent too. Not sure yet what the Takatsuki valves contribute. They’re certainly very good. Will try them in my own amp vs some new JJs and some TJ meshplates tomorrow.

Are you planning on burning them in? :fire_extinguisher:

The Taks sound like that, after a v long time they flesh out a little more, but are still very clean and clear.

These phono stages were popular (either as Salience or Jasmine) about a decade ago. Sounds good but will have to replace the rotary switch for input impedance - the plastic thread on the shaft has stripped (metal nut) so it doesn’t hold in place.

It is a Zoom H6.

Gonna do some recording. Of music. Then listen to the music afterwards.

Got to figure out how to do it.
