It is a wind thing. Wanna borrow it?
…rong colour pour moi.
Looks straightforward enough. Just need to get yer faff on.
Thankfully it should be just 2 channel from the output of a mixer.
Should be just 2-4 mic’s. Acoustic guitar and some singing.
Have organised a folk thing at the village hall. Will be recording a a bit of it. If it sounds okay it may become a cd or summat.
If enough people buy tickets we can organise more music. So far we have sold just enough tickets to cover the costs. Hopefully a good few more over the next 10 days.
This is excellent - rolling your sleeves up and making something happen is commendable - Good luck
What make are they, look good.
NVA
Valves from NVA really.
Aurorasound. PADA 300B monos.
It all started with just one Tribble
Cool, love this sort of thing, I’d been toying with the idea of one of these myself:
I used to have a Tascam 4 track portastudio back in the day…
Well, this isn’t going well.
Amp arrived this morning. On removing the bubble wrap, I noticed that the external PSU was held together with black electrical tape and that the contents seemed to be moving about within the case. I also noticed that said PSU is clearly a DIY job.
Wait till you see what I found inside!
Yeah, it’s that bad. Nothing in the box is, or ever has been secured in place. Some of the wiring has come away from the solder joints. Somewhere, one of the last flying Spitfires has no lights.
It’s all being returned, obviously.
How disappointing. The amp itself looks fine, but all else remains a mystery.
If only. All singing and dancing Pre/ Steamer/DAC/ CD player/ ripper with analogue inputs and digital inputs with terabytes of internal storage .
Ouch
What was it meant to be?
You’ve dodged a bullet TBH - that generation of MF sounded crap. Almost anything in a similar price range will sound better. I know, I owned its different-box-same-internals predecessor…
The amp was originally supplied with something called the Triple-x PSU, which connected via an umbilical. In my case, someone has removed the connector from the amp and hardwired their satanic bodgery direct into the rear panel of the amp.
I had thought of keeping it for future euthanasia-related use. Or lighting the barbecue.
Thanks. Good to know.
Have you blown the Gato up again?
Nope. This was meant to be a cheap amp to drive the Spendor S8E I bought last year.
I have a Triple x which is not in use and you’re welcome to for the price of postage.
Let me check when I get home after work.
From memory I used the triple X for the cd player. There is a second input for the amp and you must never connect to the wrong one as it fries something. This of course I did.
I just can’t remember whether it fried the cd player or the triple X itself.
Let me get back to you later.
X.
