Wow, looks mega with the Triplaner, how’s it sounding?

Very nice

Hi Loo. Sounds as good as it looks and the Audiomods on the Oracle is also a great match. I am indeed lucky. Thanks.

Two nice record players you have there, I particularly like the look of the triplaner on the PT , you’re welcome and thanks to Bob (delivery par excellence)
Cheers

Is that arm mine or yours?

Mine. Yours is all tucked up in its Quad Box. Thanks for the long term loan of yours. It was so good It was only the new arm/TT ( delivered by you ) that made me get my finger out an put mine back on, which of course was yours!

Loo. One day I should get all 4 good TT’s up and running but I only have two “good” arms and 3 " good " carts, not like Bob!

Is that a different arrangement on the bypass caps Simon. Loved mine but needed to release funds for the Najda active speaker set up:wink:

Not really shiny, brand new or second hand, but the latest building work going on here has brought about a further re-arrangement of our living room.

For quite some time I have known that in the (now previous) listening position the bass was thin. Not sure how to describe this… suck out? If I leant over the coffee table or stood up there was loads of bass and maybe too much but at the listening position - it was a little too thin. We decided that (for other reasons) the sofa should move back against the window but because my record storage was in the way, I couldn’t really test what effect this would have on the sound. Anyway, now we have moved it back the sound is significantly better!

My head is I suppose, five feet further back now and some 30 feet from the drivers. This means that the integration is improved but not only that, the bass is now immense! Deep but tight and textured, which has added even more scale. It is always a time sink but I am finding it very difficult to tear myself away from it atm!

Because the room looks better, everyone is happy and I have used the opportunity to spring some ideas that I have for some room treatment which now have the green light. :innocent: As soon as the builders have left I shall be pursuing this with mucho enthusiasm

This simple movement of furnishings has really been as good as an expensive component upgrade, which is why I thought I’d post here.

Before and after photos or it didn’t happen Ritchie.

Probably a better upgrade than lobbing £££ at a non existent problem which I’m sure a lot of us have done

Here is my plan for room treatment, which you can do with the kids:

  • Get a piece of ply as big as you want it to be, say six foot by four foot
  • Get lots of lengths of 1" x 1" or 2" x 2" planed all round pine
  • Cut these lengths into random lengths up to 12", say
  • With the kids, dunk one end of the lengths into different colours of paint
  • Also with the kids, stick the lengths onto the ply, making cool patterns or randomness as you fancy
  • Mount on a strong wall!

Got long left of the Easter holidays?

Pics

This is an old pic from maybe 18 months ago. Difficult to understand but the record storage was behind the sofa in two Ikea Kallax units.

Sorry, slightly better one here without so much shit everywhere!

Now looks like this…

Record storage now on right and usual shit everywhere!

I see the motus in those photos. What was the big silver cake tin style turntable in the earlier one?
