It improves the colours you see, too.
I got one of these for the most balanced light choice. Would recommend.
I’m really impressed with Dolby Vision, HDR stuff is good too.
I wasn’t ignoring this; I just needed to do something first. When you asked the question, the answer would be that the Rega is miles better because it works. The SME that had been on the Gyro has an earth problem so it had to be removed. Happily, as of today, the Gyro is back in action;
With the SME on, there were pros and cons to the Gyro and Planar 10. With the Vertere on, the Gyro is quite a bit better. To be clear, it ought to be. The Rega less cart is £3,500, the Michell and Vertere £4,396 but even so, it’s impressive. The Vertere is a very nice thing to use as well.
The P10 is a handy ‘spare’ deck to have
It’s more useful than that insofar as it- deck arm and cart- is a single fixed of point reference which makes it much easier to use in reviews because I can reference the original review rather of it than pointing to the various bits that make up the Gyro.
I saw a good review of a Vertere turntable and arm in HiFi News. They liked the arm a lot.
Early days with this one but I’m very much liking what I hear so far.
Stick the arm on the Rega!
That’s actually not impossible to do but I think it would be an absolute fucking mongrel of a job.
Wife hates it. It makes everything look odd.
And really shows up cheap sets. I can’t decide if I think the hyper realism is a good thing, or a distraction.
Not convinced.
Really? I’d have thought it should be relatively straightforward. Would give an insight into how the Vertere arm compares vs Rega.
By design, the SG-1 is single point ‘old Rega’ fitting. The Planar 10 is three point ‘new Rega’ fitting. Now, Vertere supplies a little collar that would fit the three point mount but I can tell you for free that the VTA will be wrong and I don’t fancy screwing anything into the ceramic brace because I don’t really want to have tell Rega I borked their deck because I was bored and wanted to make a comparison.
Woose ! Whatever happened to inquisitive, searching journalism ?
This is listening to stereos and a bit of waffle Mike
It sounds like it is very dependant on the set you are viewing it on.
LG oled.
Should be as good as it gets.
What colour settings have you got it on?
It detects DV and adjusts for it. I’ve also set it to mirror the online recommended guides.
Basically, all the Other processing is off
Another Aro knockoff from the Nima school of design by the looks of it. Probably a lovely thing to use. I love a good unipivot.
ISF Bright room works best here on a B7.
This really feels like an incredibly posh Nima (small wonder considering the designer) and that is no bad thing at all.
