Shit you just learned (probably from the internet.)

I thought I’d strayed into the straya thread from the picture … then you confirmed it

This particular taxon of Rafflesia occurs only in one locality in the Philippines

and this lucky guy is the first Westerner to ever see one

Wow, awesome ! How special.

The reason it has never been recorded by a westerner before is that the plant has eaten all previous explorers

90 years ago (yesterday) Sydney Harbour Bridge was opened

Slightly disappointed that they didn’t mention the steel was constructed on the other side of the world, in Middlesbrough, by local steel giants Dorman Long.

The steel used to make it was produced at Skinningrove from local ironstone and the words ‘Made in Middlesbrough’ are stamped on its side.

So you now need a ticket for the National Gallery. This was requested by a security guard on the way in. I was about to go online to get one when they said I could just go on and get one at the desk.

Honestly, bureaucracy…

Probably Covid related.
I had a similar thing at the National History Museum a few months back, I think they just want to know who is in the building if there is a hit on the Track and Trace.
Probably should have been stopped by now but it will probably still be in place in 7 years time when no one will remember why it was introduced

They just hand you a ticket, no need to give any details.

I can understand numbers restrictions, sure, but what’s wrong with a radio and having a bit of a queue?
