Presumably without the standard ā€œmedicinalā€ accompaniment (for various random reasons I am aware that Fever Tree is the best supermarket source of active quinine)?

Hope you’re all going to be OK. we (Yvonne) are having our own health worries at the moment but will save that for when its all a bit clearer after a range of scans, endoscopes etc. And sadly know we aren’t alone.

So chin up for now, the weather is pleasant and wine glass is at least half full.

I’ve been suffering for the last month or so with sharp pains in my left knee and hip. Over time the localized sharp pains have morphed into a dull ache in the whole leg, hip to ankle which is painful enough to keep me awake at night. Mrs JB insisted that I needed to see the doctor and amazingly I got an appointment yesterday afternoon. I have been given some weapons grade pain killers and an appointment for an assessment with the MSK next week
Fuck this getting old

I hope the MSK people can get to the bottom of it swiftly. Good luck JB.

Had blood pressure taken at the pharmacy on Monday and it was very high,so at docs tomorrow to have it checked again and bring a machine home to keep an eye on it for a week to see if I need medication.

When I had lump removed they weren’t going to do it as it was that high,I put it down to anxiety and a one off.
My sister passed out with high bp around 2 years ago so think it’s a family thing.
Seems a good idea to now change my diet and start exercising

Combo of drugs, efforts to reduce your cholesterol, and some activity will do wonders, don’t go mad, just do stuff you can stick to because thats when it works.

Yes,think I’m going to start eating fish and rice,I love fish but never get round to having it.
I’ve been far too lazy cooking wise for myself, and just eating microwave rubbish.

Just started looking at tai chi for beginners on YouTube which might also help my back.

Yoga. Just 10-15 mins a day.

There could be some of that. But it’s also an older person thing.

Never mind ā€œI don’t want to be a burdenā€, From your genes’ point of view a burden is exactly what you are from your mid-50’s onwards, and they will do better if you make a swift exit. So your body stops mending things when they go wrong and keeping your metabolism in good order.

Pharmacology then has to step in. Our life expectancy has been extended substantially, if rather quietly, not least by dissuading us from smoking and by controlling our BP and our bad cholesterol. Eventually more sophisticated things do for us. In the meantime take the tabs, have an extra decade or two.

My mum and dad both died in their 40s, so amazed me and my older brother and sister are still here.
My dad and his two brothers all died within 3 weeks of each other. Not sure of his brother’s cause of death.

Sounds very familiar. get an MRI scan

I did think that there were similarities with your experience. Apparently MSK can make referrals for scans etc.

The Nefopam hydrochloride has definitely taken the edge of the pain.

Weighed again this morning and I have hit the 25lb loss target I set myself in March. Still fasting intermittently 3 or 4 days a week, and still maintaining the required dietary changes so that I am no longer Fatty Blood Man.

B.P. is still a bit high so I am back at the surgery next week for a review of drugs. 2.5mg of Ramipril ain’t cutting it.

Bloody well done, 11kg in 4 months is a really good weight loss rate (too fast, and it tends to be unsustainable).
