Really glad Mik is on the mend

Back of my noggin it photo #1. Anybody know who that person is that I was taking to? Idon’t remember that at all…

There were a couple of guys over from Ireland who had Quads, they were in the room opposite you I think.
I did the room allocation but I have no idea how I remembered that :grinning:

They ruined me to be honest. That was probably the peak of my Hifi journey, a mirage of possibility. Since then the bottom has dropped out of my private work, my family swallow all my money and I haven’t been able to summon the energy to battle on. Still. Better to have loved and lost…

Wayne and Bolts were opposite us Kevin. That is why I was bollocksed for about a week after Scalford that year. The year before Sodders was over the road.

That was the year I brought a pile of my music then a bloke who followed me around by the look of it complained about the amount of classical played…

And it appears to be a beardless @jim :bearded_person:

Yes it was a different year that the Quads were in there, I have all the spreadsheets somewhere but I am not going to look now!

I think James used to get me to do the room allocations so that when people came up to him complaining about their room he could say ‘Nothing to do with me mate!’

Were those the nutters with the two sets of stacked quads? They were in the room next to my bedroom. That was excellent. I went to bed on the Saturday, they fired up their setup, so I got up, fell over, opened a bottle of wine and shoved on some clothes and went to join them. Fuck knows what they thought as I was pissed as a newt.

Yes that is who I was thinking of

They were nice lads. Mad, but very, very nice.

That could go for all of us!

I used to get some very odd PMs from people who wanted the very best room for their fairly average (by Scalford show standards) systems…
I remember someone quite pissed off asking why one exhibitor had been given a much nicer room than them when they had specifically requested it.
I said ‘because they have come over from Germany with a cinema horn system that will probably never be seen or heard in the UK again and a lot of people will want to see/hear it’

He didn’t think that was very reasonable

I always got very decent rooms when I exhibited. Never asked for a particular room though IIRC.

Most people didn’t.
I tried to be reasonable about how big and heavy stuff was (there were no lifts) as well as well as room size.
But the reality was that a hotel has a lot of bedrooms compared to meeting/function rooms.

Most people took what they got and ran with it, but there were a few who got a bit precious!
Nearly everyone realised that the ‘they’ who were working to organise it were forum members doing it in their own time and wanted to have a great weekend the same as everyone else!

It was really late when I got up there. You were all talking utter bollocks and Wayne was playing Loop much too loud.

We seemed to be playing an awful lot of Loop and Mezzanine by Massive Attack that night. I cleared Wayne’s room with a Loop bootleg early on that evening.
