Smart shoes aka Dr Cunties Cunty shoe emporium

Magazines, reviewers and advertisers. Same illness, different hobby. You should see the lake District in summer, you would think people were scaling the North Face of the fucking Eiger!

So much this!

I have done a two week walk in the lakes a few times now (The Lakeland Ridges Challenge Walk) carrying tent, sleeping bag etc. Everything to be self sufficient for two weeks except more water and food bought on route. Still saw people doing pissing cat bells with more kit than me!

Yep, Catbells is a classic for it. It’s s couple of hours walk and minor scramble for someone as unfit as me. A canteen of water and a sandwich saw me through, I’m sure others thought they would need to rope up.

It’s fun to one-up, but for once I’d put a positive spin on it - these people have seen the accounts of rescue teams going-up Britain’s bigger hills to bring down dead or half-dead fuckwits that tried to climb 'em at 3 in the afternoon in high heels and a shellsuit with nothing more than a bottle of voddy for sustenance (c’mon - we’ve all done it…). Better they go-up overequipped than come down in body bags.

Gore Tex is breathable, you have to combine it with breathable under layers though. Socks with a high content of wool, polyester, or nylon work. Cotton doesn’t wick moisture, so high cotton content under layers end up wet

Nice, but sadly top out 2 sizes too small for me.

No it’s shit. Like all waterproof shells, they keep the rain out but are bollocks at getting rid of sweat. If you are doing anything above a snails pace after an hour it will be damp inside too.
I also include event, paramo, pertex etc in the above. As someone who was addicted to buying this stuff, I have realised two things. One; skin is waterproof, two; waterproof coats are all shit so just buy something light simple and mid range.

Nah, leave em for the crows

I found the same with waterproof jackets for cycling. A basic shell is all you need. Above a certain level of effort they all turn into boil-in-the-bag.

This is the truth ^^^^^^^

Paramo mountain coat works on the fells in winter, base layer only under. A good cold wind and it works a treat, pit zips help if the wind dies down.

Don’t think I’ve ever heard of size 14. Couldn’t you just use the boxes they come in ? :slightly_smiling_face:

As an update to this, I did a rush job for someone so I bought both pairs of cunty shoes;

As delivered

Re laced

And I bought a cunty shoe rack to put them on;

That should be it for a bit. I’ll sort a blue pair and see if there’s anything interesting knocked down come end of line.

Hel saw this pic and said “if those aren’t at least four different people’s pairs of trainers then they must belong to one of those predominantly male, on the spectrum, introverted, anally obsessed saddos…”

I then had to remind her which forum she was peering into :rofl:

I just assumed that everyone in MK wore such things - like the set of The Prisoner, but with roundabouts
