I might limit myself to a red/green, port/starboard combo for a jaunty nautical theme.

What does patch do with the other shoe(s)? - I’m guessing unspeakable?
He hasn’t ever attack shoes.
He will occasionally nick a pair of clean socks sitting on the sofa, and run off with them.
At the moment he is still killing/banging the cushion.
