Spirit Wind speakers I made for @catcando that I borrow back now and then because they are very nice.
Got the HM3 sut back today from a forum outing. Was going to bury it in the back of a cupboard where its been living for the last 8+ years, when I remembered I now own an MC cartridge.
Plugged it in, sounds lovely with the Hana and the 1:20 ratio and comparable with the MC section of the phono stage. Being brutally honest its an unnecessary lump of metal and wire in the signal chain. However it looks cool imo.
This is my hifi.
Oversized Yamaha integrated used solely as a (90w) power amp for frequencies above 120hz. It never breaks sweat. The above mentioned sut, a SL1200GR and a Hana SL cart.
Pocket sized battery powered phono stage that fits under the turntable’s chassis. Very impressive bit of kit
My new miniDSP Flex-4 peamp / DAC / DSP box of tricks lives under the telly, it also supports LDAC Bluetooth as does my phone, great for streaming spotify directly from the handset.
These are my speakers (and subs), I made them in 2013 - 10+yrs ago FFS!. Never got round to sanding them which I plan on doing in a couple of weeks when my other half is visiting MiL. Its a big job, they’er 6 foot high and 70kg each. Might push a roundover bit around the edges while I’m at it.
Ive spent this afternoon buggering around with DSP and Dirac. The software is impressive, I have a wider more dynamic sound. I’m sure there’s more performance waiting to be extracted as my understanding improves.
Quite enjoying faffing with hifi, its been a while.
Nice, are they the same speakers you had in the previous house? Love my F117 Nighthawk photo stage, great bit of kit recommended to me by the late Chelsea Dave.
Yes they are, and yes it is excllent, Dave was a wise man.
Dave brought that to a number of bake offs as he reckoned every one should hear it.
Unfortunately he forgot to charge the battery EVERY SINGLE TIME
Same, he lent it to me for a few months but forgot to bring the charger with him to a bakeoff at mine!
I remember one bake off where he fetched along his Doge CD player, but forgot the puck.
We tried everything, buttons, washers, blu-tac - you name it, but nope. Bless him.
Ive been impressed with how long the battery lasts.
Ive charged mine 3 times since it arrived.
The Mojo driving the new IMR Audio Na-le. I never got on with the ergonomics of the Mojo and I almost tried selling it twice but it’s still here and regardless of what I dislike about it as a portable device, it does make a very nice, if rose-tinted, noise.
^^ this on the ergos, but it’s quite a toe-tapper.

I bought the Doge CD Player off Dave and it still didn’t come with the Puck
Was it some sort of a lid then maybe, which it won’t function without?
No, nothing like that. I still have it here somewhere.
The various Phillips CD Pro drives need a puck to hold the CD in place - they have so much torque they’ll throw the discs clean off otherwise.
Hmmmm, maybe I’m getting confussed with another CD player. Is the Doge blue?
…or maybe my memory is pucked
Only guessing here TBH.
Memory pucked, it has a Chrome front.
Ah, it was the blue one he had when he forgot the puck, anyone…???
I thought Dave’s old Doge 6 was a front loader with no puck.
