You’re right it’s my job - I go full potato with this stuff. You will be relieved to learn I hope to have my hands on a new record flattener coming out in a few months which amongst other things has a ‘relax mode’ that tempers the vinyl de-stressing it which apparently improves the sound. I will write irksomely on this matter in due course. Or I may just make my records a nice Horlicks.
I only have maybe three records that need a proper flatten. I’ve often thought about sending them off to be done, but in most cases I’d be cheaper replacing them!
This was always my concern with Audiodesk (I have one) because as you say from the start the obvious weakness is the filtration.
Overall though I’m not handling very dirty records so maybe that’s partly why the results I get with mine I’ve always been fairly happy with - stuff I clean tends to be new on arrival or pretty clean to begin with. On the occasion I do have to tackle a filthy record I do find the ultrasonic is effective although it may need a couple of cycles and I would dispose of the water tank afterwards.
Mate, I’m so glad I don’t live in your flat edge Blue Note world.
Anyway, if you lived in my, poverty stricken, charity shop vinyl world…
For cleaning purposes:
How does a (relatively) affordable regime of Scrub (Knosti) shake (Ultrasonic/Velvet Vortex) rinse and suck (Okki, etc) sound?
Obvs more labour intensive but a lot cheaper for similar results, unless you can convince me otherwise?
As for flattening, I’ve tried all the DIY stuff and it’s always ended up wrecking it even more than it was already wrecked, so prepared to accept that technology is the way forward here.
If there was a filter that ensured there was no visible muck in the tank, then yes.
Not sure how long I can sustain it, my daughter has started horse murmuring
It’s really down to how dirty a record is and what type of dirt as to how ‘deep’ the clean needs to be. The comparison review I’m doing is to look at pro’s & cons of what’s out there today. Each unit has compromises, nothing is perfect. I clean records every day, time is a factor but I’ve also come to want / need the right tools for the job and also appreciate them mechanically / aesthetically etc. Do I need a Festool router? No, Black & Decker will do me but if I was using one every day I’d probably feel a bit different.
Got as far as ‘noble puck’ and ordered twelve
Splashed out on a Bluetooth adapter thing so the other half csn listen to Spotify on the hifi directly from her phone… £30 and it sounds fine.
The size of a match box.
Amp for scale.
Big Yamaha amp?
Yes.
Don’t think I’ve ever found jizz on my records
The amount of love notes, Polaroids of girlfriends and or nob-selfies I’ve come across over the years in LP covers I’d say the probability of Jizz isn’t out of the question.
1970s gatefolds, especially those with plastic film and the tell tale blim burns. There were a lot of folk skinning up back then.
I would be very surprised if no copies of Electric Ladyland had ever had a special christening.
That’s all I need I think. Not really bothered about streaming , just Bluetooth across.
Do you have link ?

I’ve one sitting in a cupboard somewhere if you want it.
That would be great if I could give it a go. Thanks
2nd system up and running properly now! Very impressed with the build and controls of the Lyngdorf, not had a chance to play with the RoomPerfect yet as it only arrived earlier today!
Not 100% sure on the AE2s in this room so far, sitting about 8ft away, there might be better options for relatively nearfield listening.
