I’ll do more in the future Micky but probably less kit swapping and even more food and chat
It’s straight up awful to read this… I can’t imagine the reality of being in it, then punished for it.
I’m left wondering if there’s anything we might do collectively to help a little?
I have that familiar raffle tingling
Fitted “new” feet to the Denon . . .
The upper section are some Audio Solution rubber/sorbothane feet; so old they were made in West Germany, the lower section are modern made in China aluminum hifi feet.
The original feet are quite nice actually.
Plastic . . .
But the plastic used is quite heavy and damped by the outer rubber ring . . .
The inner rubber damping ring and mounting stud ride on a suspension spring and the base of the foot is a thick felt pad . . .
Also swapped the Denon mat for a slightly thinner Technics mat with a thin Zavfino silicone mat underneath.
I think the new feet make the deck look a bit more modern. Sound wise, even the cat has noticed the difference . . .
Cats are the best at reviewing or verifying upgrades. ![]()
Yep, if the cat approves we’re golden.
Talking of feline hyper-senses: Sam has finally noticed the new speakers after five days…
I got some richly-deserved shit for not telling her in the first place, but she loves the look.
Phew!
Almost better: I don’t have to get the Singing Washing Machines up to the top floor - which I admit would have been a suitably Sisyphaean punishment - since they would block any decent-sized projector screen…
Result squared.
This feels like a weird opposite to that cable review trope of “the wife asked from the kitchen what had changed” ![]()
Acoustically transparent screen and stick 3 of them behind it.
Another month and you can tell sam the price
I want some kind of space/time bending subwoofer - a proper hernia-in-a-box - at some point.
She’s already sung Yorkshire’s brief but affecting national anthem:
“'OW MOOCH?!!!”
Yeh, that much.
There is a cheap sub local to here that I’m tempted to give a try, just not sure where I’d put it though
So a triple dreiklang stand sized sub.
The amplifiers for that lot would heat the largest cinema.
I doubt it; you could probably get 100dB out of those things with the energy in a good fart.
For home cinema you’d need maybe a whole 2W ![]()
For headroom ![]()
For headroom
Quite. Should be able to hit 111dB ![]()

…sadly, 2015’s plans to build summat mental in the barn loft died with the roofing bill for the main house…
