SOYS: State Of Your System

Changed racks as last one got a bit cramped when i dded a MasterSounD 845 Compact.
Also swapped a 6 week old 9000CDT for a Lector CDP 603. The 9000 was very good but regretted selling my 2 box Lector CDP7TL, so glad to be back in the Lector fold. The 603 upsamples to 32 bit and sounds awesome.

Nice - I really rate Lector stuff :ok_hand:

Conrad Johnston out and Cymer audio monos in, still not totally happy with the sound but I have much better volume control and it looks prettier with the big se valves

What’s the SUT?

Slagle in pretty box is my guess!

Good guess, Simon m did the box for me and Pete picked up the smaller silver sit from etf and fitted it, lovely sounding thing and very quiet

Silver Slagle with cast gunmetal box by Simon Mears (I built it up).

Snap, mildly embarrassed that it needs a polish, very shiny with a bit of autosol and elbow grease

What speakers are you using these days? You did once have some big JBLs iirc.

Still do, k2s and no plans to change them ever as I really like them

That’s a system I’d love to hear I must admit :ok_hand:

Retired now (mostly) so happy to host anyone passing leek, especially if they have a power amp for me to try

I’ve had the Snell Es in a few weeks now. I know I purchased them as a stop gap whilst work is feeling volatile, but I feel like it’s going to take something quite remarkable to displace them at this point.

I’m also remarkably impressed with how well they work with the Electrocompaniet - it’s not exactly where I’d think to start with an amp to drive Snells, but it is absolutely bob on imho.

I have a set of brass tweeter mounts for Es that came with a posh set of Es I owned 15 years ago

If you fancy trying them u could look them out

Straight replace for the black ones

I really liked the Es with jazz folk and blues, lovely sound

Oops snell Es (reread) prolly no good then

Possibly - I don’t know how different the AN-Es are to the Snell Es - my understanding is the AN version is very much built on the original Snell design, but I don’t know how much changes. I also keep them with the covers on so if it’s just a cosmetic change it’s probably a moot point.

The AN cabs are birch ply with bracing and Snell are chipboard & plywood with damping.

I think Snell used tonegen tweeters and vifa woofers on the early models but not sure what AN use.

Yet to hear any speakers not work well with their amps. And admittedly, never heard a set of Snells sound anything but decent too :ok_hand:
