SOYS: State Of Your System

I note you’ve done something I’m going to need to do, and that’s put box sets at the end of the ladderax shelves to stop vinyl falling off the ends!

Yep, expensive book ends!

I mean I just need a few UHQR boxes to close up the ends

Update - I have got some audio mojo back
My large OB array has been dismantled and I have gone boxy except for below 80hz -

Bought a Mini-DSP flex and currently using it in conjunction with my old Mini-DSP 2x4HD and a USB spdif convertor to extract six channels of DSP. It works physically OK but conflicts with the two mini-DSP units make adjustments faffy. I may quite soon end up buying the eight way DSP flex option to simplify.
Sonance 1230 used for treble and mid
Niles SI-2150 for bass but I really need more power

The plan going forward is to run at least the mid band via compression drivers and a horn because I think the latest mini-DSP kit could be up to the job also I have a replacement ribbon incoming for my Raals plus some old compression drivers to try out.

Is that the flex-4 with RCA connections.
Been looking at the myself.

Does it use new software? Or same interface

Yes RCA’s It’s the analog unbalanced version and like the orig 2x4HD it has a pair of analog inputs that make much less of a pigs ear of conversion. So Vinyl sounds nice.
It’s new control software but it’s very similar in use.

The ability to adjust the input and which one of 4 presets it’s using directly from the unit via the knob on the fly makes it much easier. I can vouch that It’s a decent step up from 2x4 HD and doesn’t seem to stifle the signal very much if at all.

Thanks, good to know.
A volume knob / control, display and all connections at the back are very attractive.
At some point I’ll get round to buying one.

Interesting.
The 8 flex would be good to know more about.

I’m watching the diyAudio boys with CamillaDSP and Octavia free DSP.
Both seem quite complicated to get to ussble stage though.

Temporary swap in to allow for some fully automatic 45 and 12" single fun.

What’s the TT @Mr_Lovebucket ? Looks like something that FoL might like (she wants an auto deck).

It’s a JVC L-E3 from the early eighties. They produced a few linear trackers, this catalogue is interesting.

Looking good Andy, I still have my 2x4HD, I prefer the software to the Hypex Fusion, just seems simpler for my simple brain!

My stuff is in a workshop, not at home or in a showroom - Accordingly it’s usually a rats nest of cables / extensions / precarious balancing and ugly contortions. @stu couldn’t cope with the apparent ‘Mess’ and set to work pulling everything out and putting it all back in. A job I’ve been meaning to do for quite some time but back issues forbade.

The result was x7 power leads pertaining to thin air, x2 extension blocks seemingly also doing nothing (Edit: not quite true they would have been a nice puzzle for the Brownies as the knots were Mensa puzzles.) A found Western electric plaque that had fallen down the back probably a decade ago. Several sets of isolation feet I’d completely forgotten and a larva lamp that was stuffed behind a speaker.

It still looks like a mish mash of boxes and it will all get jumbled about within the next few weeks with testing various TT’s messing about with SUT’s / cables etc - So here’s a picture in as neat a state as it’s likely to get. Thanks Stu.

Very nice, but please straighten up the BTJ before my ocd gets the better of me

Looks great, I’ll have to get him round to do mine.

Did you find anything useful? Uneaten pies, boxes of forgotten Northern Soul singles, drug stashes?

Hahaha, I’m just pleased you didn’t see it before

A few hundred quids worth of eBay cannon fodder. The WE sign, some footers (that may at some point be handy) and several Schumann generators which are now bringing harmony to my frankly clapped out chakras. Oh and 7 or 8 valves that had been ‘stored,’ ‘safely’.

I did - I had to go and lie down… :grimacing:
