The gentleman’s way

What is the LDA power supply doing when you have a 301 in the system?

It’s a brilliant solution to speed stability for all idlers.
It just puts the cherry on the cake when everything else is top notch. I’ve heard them on 301 and 401 and they definitely make a positive difference.

Usually bung it on for speed testing, the HAT power supply I had was better but this thing works OK.

I was beginning to fret about the seeming lack of these - I can go back to bed now…

some people say that idlers sound better when supplied using a variac at around 200V

Never tried it with the TD124 I had but CliveG had one on his and said it made a big improvement.

Deco are making one now that looks to be quite good VFM

I fear I let the side down not showing the quantum Anaconda’s I will try harder next time Stu decides to tidy up

Just seen the amount of pounds for the LDA power supply. I think I am still in the world where I bought a 401/3009 for £80 which makes it difficult to justify.

You are objectifying that anaconda. Also, it is not Wednesday.

YES! Let there be snek!

Not sure the cable lifters are up to Viablue’s standards.

The thing is dropping the voltage drops the torque. In the late 60;'s people got into putting a bulb inline on the power cable to drop 20-30v. The LDA and HAT power supplies work on the Frequency which is what really dials in the speed whilst offering something closer to clean power -

I’ve done a fair bit of listening around this subject and personally feel that A) clean power to the motor is a good idea, that dropping the voltage is less so (Depends on which 301 as the windings differ over their ten year manufacturing run) the removing the eddy current brake is not the way to go (The motors are designed to have some drag) and overall that if Voltage must be dropped it’s really going to be down to 215-220v (Again depending on motor type) before the gains are overtaken with losses.

Fuck on all fronts. As you mentioned in your PM I should also have added when zooming in on the image you will find panties. Nothing to offend just magic & witchcraft

I have a LDA On my current TT (Ex Chelsea Dave) Clarity Dual.
I also had the upgraded power supply on my Kuzma TT which like the LDA is mains frequency based so generally a rock steady supply.

There is also the added benefit that for belt driven TTs it makes the speed change simple and easy, you don’t have to be faffing about moving belts to different pulleys etc,

I never sent you a PM Matt.

Ah, you are Lord Mandelson and I claim my £5. Your ability to warp the truth is truly impressive…

Such is the joy of the internetz.

Salma here, rearranging some cables to tackle a tricky but persistent Schumann node.
