SOYS: State Of Your System

I suspect that sustained use of the A5 into the AE2 is going to demand you do this promptly whether you want to or not. It’s from the extremely feeble era of Audio Partnership engineering and the magic smoke tends to escape when you ask it to run anything that dips below 6 ohms.

Yeah, its not great, its a backup amp I have that for the last 4-months has been playing white noise for the baby when she was napping in there! That’s about all its good for but will likely end up in the garage for when I get round to some woodwork again!

I like the AE2’s , they do need some grunt though.

Yeah, currently trying to decide between a few options… Trying to find something that has flexible inputs/outputs, decent MM/MC phonostage, decent power etc.

Marantz PM-17 Mk2, Would be a great match with the Sony S9000ES, has a Pre-Out/Main-In link for use with the MiniDSP if required.

Sony TA-F770ES, had a few of these and they are great, getting on a bit now so likely need a service

Denon PMA-2010AE, had a PMA-2000AE, PMA-2000IVR & PMA-2500NE in the past, great amps. Has a pre-out for easy use with subwoofer if required.

Denon PMA-QS10II, like the big Denon above but a level higher in the range. No Pre outs so limits use with subwoofers and flexiblity in the future.

Some tweaks:

New turntable and cartridge in play now. Not sure I think the new table is as pretty as my old one, but it seems to perform well. The cartridge is excellent.

While it remains unsold, I’ve tried using the auralic Aries and vega together, rather than using the vega by itself. Unsure if it adds anything, I need to do more listening.

I dunno, I reckon it looks quality - understated but classy. :ok_hand:

Thinking of your turntable and speakers and am wondering if you know what ‘understated’ means :grinning:

A messy business - Reviewing the new Degritter cleaning machine vs audio desk vs Loricraft.

I’d be very keen to know your thoughts. I vacuum clean at the moment with a project vc-e. With double rinse cycle.

But I’ve given thought to either changing machine or adding / moving to an ultrasonic solution

Possibly to the audio desk all in one unit or adding a degritter / humminguru to my existing machine

Y tho?

I have the same RCM, and it gets vinyl as spotlessly silent as its underlying quality will allow.

Because ultrasonic gets much deeper down into the groove.

Of course it does :ok_hand:

I’m perfectly happy with my OK MkII. Works perfectly well, as long as you don’t try and rush too much ie leave the cleaning solution on the record long enough.
