Hi Jim

My system (lounge) remains unchanged - guests are welcome to listen to their own vinyl/CD’s or my music (vinyl, CD’s, local files, streaming from Qobuz) but no kit swap-outs are allowed!

The family room/kitchen is set aside for whatever everyone wants to bring along and assemble a second system to listen to music. This ‘second system’ changes throughout the course of the day, as guests compare different, sources, cables, amplifiers and speakers. There is minimal sound “bleed-through” when the lounge door is closed (but I do insist that guests bathe before they visit/use plenty of deodorant, as it can get a bit ripe in there, during the summer months!

The patio/terrace is for those who smoke/vape or who just want to sit outside and natter! This is also the area where one of my guests (Jack … Non-smoking man on The Wam) sets up his trellis tables to sell records/CD’s, which is always popular. I also encourage any guests to bring along kit/vinyl/CD’s they are selling or want to swap with others!

Thanks for the invitation to your Bake-Off, but I will have to pass, as I am already attending a WAM BO in Basingstoke on that day!

Please bear me in mind for any future bake-offs “oop north!” :grinning:

North??? Jim’s almost in Holland!

Hey, anything above Aldershot on a map is “oop north” to me!

Stu (MonitorGold10) let us have sight of this splendid specimen at my summer BO!

He did say that he had handled larger though!

Size is everything - where cables are concerned… :ok_hand:

I shall keep an eye open for future B/Os - gave-up on hifi shows years ago as entirely futile, but a well-conceived private system in its natural environment is altogether more revealing.

And pies, of course.

Mainly pies, TBH…

I cannot believe no one has enquired about the state of the carpet gripper rods in the listening room yet. Standards are clearly slipping.

This.

I guess we’re all maxed-out in our gripper-rod, magic crystal, and Schumann-resonator games on here, and not accustomed to dealing with noobs with their adorable starter-systems featuring mere accessories, like amplifiers and loudspeakers…

I have been busy over the last month and a very large pile of speaker drivers and amps have been tried and tested & distilled into an active four way system.

The newly inserted EV subs operate as a fill in from 60 - 80hz and help sort out a bass warmth issue that has been bugging me - Mellotrons are now back in the room
Tweeters - Neat SX1
Mid - Alcone AC8HE
Bass 1- Selenium 15W12P
Bass 2 - EVID 12.1
Amps - Niles SI-2150 x 2(mid and Bass2), Aiyima A07 max(Tweeter) and Behringer NX3000D with silent fan (Bass 1)
Crossover - Mini-DSP flex 8
Coffee cup - Le Creuset

Final FR (X axis = 20 - 20K) is a bit rugged but it sounds very decent

Bet they sound pretty epic! And I’m liking the garden-fence aesthetic there Andy - though we all know the coffee cup is the real upgrade here :ok_hand:

I am dead boring now. I don’t dick with my system at all really just listen on it.
Partly I bought stuff I couldn’t afford nowadays when I was earning and now I’m on a fixed income I just listen to music on what I have - which I am also lucky to have.
Currently enjoying Saint-Sains Organ symphony on Tune Audio Anima currently powered by a Job INTegrated using its internal DAC fed by the digital output of a Chinese Original daVinci CD player I bought because I liked the look of it.
Otherwise it is my 27 year old Goldmund system (the record player is ~40 though) which I am still happy with.

Sounds like an excellent system TBH - not difficult to live with that :ok_hand:

Those Anima’s are really special

Looking good Andy! Have you not mounted the Selenium with the writing horizontal just to get OCD people twitiching?

Cheers - I couldn’t mount the writing exactly H or V because the previous TOA bass drivers used in the baffle had metal bushed holes fitted that had 10mm wrong PCD so I would have risked a mounting hole disaster.

The Second System is finally up and running now with the arrival of some AE2s, to go with the Sony DVP-S9000ES, Cambridge Audio A5 and a Yamaha WX10 for Streaming.
Plan to upgrade the amp soon, either with the Bryston B60R from the main system or a big Denon amp, not sure yet.

The room is our ‘Library’ room, a hobby room for games consoles, Wife’s sewing (she makes her own clothes) and music.

Are they Target stands?
The AE2s look at home on them.
Hope you enjoy them as much as I did.
