Tales from the Ginnel

Just the finishing to go here, at last, a plinth for my Christmas present…

Beautiful.

Finish is a wipe on short oil varnish diluted 50% with real turpentine. Will give it a couple of days to cure, then flatten back and polish.

Varnish cut back, polished with compound and finished with a wax mix.

Stunning, as always Bob :+1:

A couple of Ash logs, slab of Beech, one week, a great teacher and a chair has emerged. Bit of finishing to apply and jobs a good 'un…

Love it, and that reinforcement is like a BobC signature - great stuff!

My fingers are knackered, but it’s been a great time well spent. Can see myself moving toward this craft approach to working with wood. Once I’m in the new gaff and have the space to set up a pole lathe and outdoor work space then it’s likely to be most of the word work I do.

Looks lovely!

Beautiful piece of work, Bob; I’m full of admiration and not a little jealous

Lovely job

I do like how it looks like someone fixed it with a plaster though

Fetled and oiled up, pop some wax on tomorrow and jobs a good in

Just shown this to Donna, she said “Oh my, that is lovely! How talented is that guy!”.

I said “Meh…whatever…”.

Should be straightforward enough. I mean he only needs two carvers and he has done one of them already. :+1:

In use, time to plan the next one. Few new tools to get and then get on with it.
