She’s one of a very few take-no-shit-from-anyone politicians who actually seems to be working for a positive result, and not a backhander.
That does, as you’ve said, complicate being President. Unless she could go the exact opposite way to Trump, and build a cabinet of genuinely hard-working, intelligent staff, it’ll not work. And even then she needs to tell the massive money businesses like the oil tycoons, Musk, and all those often deemed ‘bad’ to GTF out of the way, and that the world is not going to dance to their tune.
And then… Saying that, and making it stick, are two very different things. The people she’d be fighting would be happy to tie everything up in litigation for as long as it takes to get her back out of office.
Look at the situation with Trump - even when courts order him to do something, it doesn’t happen, and there are (so far) no repercussions.
That is the sort of power that has to be overcome in order for a ‘good’ person to do the job they should be able to do.
The other factor is the widely entrenched racism, paternalism and misogyny in the states that tilts the field away from anyone who isn’t a white male; I’m sure that played a part in Kamala’s loss to the orange shitgibbon.
Sadly, I don’t think enough of the voting populace are ready for an AOC in the white house yet…
The guy who impressed me recently is Jon Ossoff but I don’t know whether he’d be likely to run. Being white & male he’d perhaps have more of a chance than AOC. He’s also only 39 so about 40 years younger at least than most senior democrats.
I’d almost be surprised if Gavin Newsom doesn’t run.
